Track Wix Forms submissions as conversions in ChatGPT Ads
Learn how to send server-side conversions to ChatGPT Ads every time a visitor submits a Wix form on your site. No code required!

Are you planning to run ChatGPT Ads to bring more leads into your business? Then getting your conversion tracking right needs to be near the top of your to do list.
That's because ChatGPT Ads uses AI to figure out which people are most likely to become leads, and then it puts your ads in front of those people more often.
But the AI needs conversion data to learn from. If ChatGPT can't see which ad clicks went on to become leads, it has no idea what type of person is a good fit for your business, so it will end up spending your budget on people who were never going to fill in your form.
This is even more important with ChatGPT Ads than with something like Google Ads, because there are no ‘keywords’ for you to choose. You're relying on ChatGPT to slot your ad into the right conversations, and if it never hears back about which of those conversations produced a lead, it's basically guessing.
So what does solid conversion tracking in ChatGPT Ads actually involve, and how do you set it up?
In this article, we'll walk you through the best way to send a conversion to ChatGPT Ads whenever someone submits a Wix form on your Wix website.
What proper conversion tracking looks like in ChatGPT Ads
Getting conversion tracking right in ChatGPT Ads boils down to 2 things. You need every single conversion to actually reach ChatGPT Ads, and you need each one to carry enough detail that ChatGPT Ads can link it to a real person and the ad they originally clicked on.
Getting every conversion delivered
The quickest way to set up conversion tracking is probably to install the ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel and fire a conversion when a visitor hits the thank you page. The trouble with this approach is that it depends completely on the visitor's browser to pass the conversion along to ChatGPT Ads, and ad blockers and built-in browser privacy tools stop that from happening all the time.
The loss here is bigger than most people expect. Industry research suggests 30% or more of conversions go missing this way, so your reports end up dramatically undercounting the amount of leads you're really getting, and ChatGPT's algorithm has a lot less to learn from when it decides who to show your ads to.
Because of this issue, OpenAI suggests sending every conversion through 2 separate channels. One goes through the visitor's browser using the Measurement Pixel, and the other goes from a server straight to OpenAI using the Conversions API (which is what "server-side tracking" refers to). The idea being that if the pixel gets blocked in someone's browser, the server-side conversion is there as a safety net.
Making sure each conversion can be matched
Delivering the conversion is only step 1. When it lands, ChatGPT Ads still needs to work out which person it belongs to and which ad they clicked (and if it can't figure that out, the conversion simply doesn't count). Unfortunately, a few everyday things make this matching a lot trickier than it sounds:
- Browser privacy features - Safari and other privacy-first browsers delete tracking cookies after a short window (often 7 days or less). So if someone clicks your ad on a Monday but doesn't get around to filling in your form 10 days later, the cookie tying them to that click is long gone.
- Switching devices - Plenty of people tap on your ad from their phone and then come back days later on a laptop or desktop and submit your form then. Because the click and the form submission happened on 2 different devices, there's nothing linking them together.
- Switching browsers - A lot of people use the ChatGPT app on their phone, and when they click your ad your site actually loads in a small browser window inside the app. That in-app window stores cookies totally separately from the phone's regular browser, so if they return later through Safari or Chrome and complete your form, ChatGPT Ads can't connect it back to the click.
The way around all 3 of these issues is to send extra details about the lead with each conversion. That means their name, email address and phone number, plus the Click ID (ChatGPT Ads calls this the oppref). Sending the lead's IP address and user agent helps too, since it tells ChatGPT more about the device they used. The idea here is that by giving ChatGPT Ads all this extra information, it can use it to match the conversion back to a real user (and then to the actual ad that user clicked).
3 simple steps to send proper, server-side conversions to ChatGPT Ads from Wix Forms
Now that you've got a clear picture of what good conversion tracking involves, here's the simplest way to get it running on your Wix site.
Step 1: Build your Conversion Flow in Converly
Converly is a conversion tracking tool that makes sending proper, server-side conversions from Wix Forms to ChatGPT Ads really easy.

What you're looking at above is the Converly flow builder. If you've played around with tools like Zapier (or built an automation using Wix Automations), you'll recognise how it works.
You start by picking a trigger (in this case, a visitor submitting one of your Wix forms), and then you choose the action that follows (sending a conversion to ChatGPT Ads). Honestly, that's all there is to it. A few clicks and your server-side conversion tracking for ChatGPT Ads is up and running.
It gets even easier if you use an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT. Just install the plugin, ask it to 'Set up ChatGPT Ads conversion tracking for my Wix forms', and it will build the whole thing for you!
Step 2: Add the Converly code to your website
Once your Conversion Flow is built and published, Converly gives you a short code snippet to add to your website.

On Wix, open your site's dashboard, go to Settings, and scroll down to the Custom Code section under Advanced. Click 'Add Custom Code', paste in the snippet, set it to load on all pages, then hit Apply. Alternatively, if you already use tools like Google Tag Manager to add code to your website, you can add the snippet there instead.
Step 3: Test it works
All that's left is to head to your live Wix site and submit your form yourself.
Once you've done that, jump back into Converly and click 'Logs' in the main menu.

Find your test submission in the list and click into it. You'll see all the details Converly picked up from the form, along with whether the conversion was delivered to ChatGPT Ads.

If you want to dig a little deeper, you can also view the exact payload Converly sent to ChatGPT Ads (including the click ID, browser ID and hashed email address) as well as the response OpenAI's server sent back.

As soon as your test submission appears in the log, you're done. Your conversion tracking is up and runnings and conversions are being sent server-side to ChatGPT Ads. Most people wrap the whole process up in under 5 minutes.
Why Converly is the best way to send conversions to ChatGPT Ads from Wix Forms
You've got a few options for getting conversions into ChatGPT Ads when a visitor submits a Wix form, so why pick Converly? Here's what makes it different:
1. Easy to set up
Doing all of this by hand would be a serious headache. You'd have to write code that detects when a Wix form has been submitted, captures the click ID and browser cookie, pulls out the name, email address and phone number, hashes them using SHA-256, formats the payload exactly how OpenAI expects it, and sends it over. You'd also need to securely manage API keys, plus deduplication, retries, consent management, etc.
With Converly, all of that is on us. All you need to do is pick a trigger (a Wix Forms submission), pick an action (a conversion sent to ChatGPT Ads), and Converly looks after everything else. There's no custom code and no API keys to manage, just conversion tracking that works.
And if you already use an AI tool like Claude or ChatGPT, simply install the Converly plugin, ask it to 'Set up ChatGPT Ads tracking for my Wix forms', and it will take care of the entire setup for you!
2. Not affected by ad blockers and privacy restrictions
If you rely on the ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel alone (without also sending conversions server-side through the Conversions API), a good portion of your conversions will never reach OpenAI at all, since ad blockers and privacy-focused browsers shut the pixel down before it can load.
So how much are we talking about? A study covering more than 7 million conversions found browser-based tracking missed roughly 30% of them. In other words, close to a third of your conversions would go uncounted.
Converly sends every conversion through both routes (via the browser to the ChatGPT Measurement Pixel and server-side to the Conversions API), so your conversions should reach ChatGPT Ads no matter what ad blocker or privacy settings your visitors are using.
3. Works across devices
It's really common for a lead to find your site on one device (e.g. chatting with ChatGPT on their phone during a lunch break) and then come back to fill in your Wix form on their computer later on.
If you're just using the ChatGPT Measurement Pixel, there's no way to link that eventual conversion back to the original ad click, because the click and the form submission took place in different browsers on different devices.
Converly solves this problem. It grabs the click ID (the oppref) and passes it to ChatGPT Ads together with the lead's name, email address, and phone number. That gives ChatGPT Ads everything it needs to match the conversion back to a real person and the original ad they clicked, even if the click happened on another device weeks before they submitted the form.
4. Sends more data
The moment a visitor arrives on your site, Converly captures the ChatGPT click ID, the browser cookie dropped by the ChatGPT Ads pixel, and their user agent, then saves them. When that same visitor eventually submits one of your forms, Converly bundles all of that with their name, email, and phone and sends the lot to ChatGPT Ads in one go.
That means ChatGPT Ads can trace each conversion back to the ad click that kicked things off, and you end up with conversion numbers you can actually rely on.
5. Supports multiple tools and platforms
Converly connects with over 100 form builders, scheduling tools, chat widgets and more. On the other side, it can send conversions to ChatGPT Ads, Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Microsoft Ads, Google Analytics and loads of other platforms.
So if you're running Google Ads or Meta Ads alongside ChatGPT Ads, there's no need to build a separate setup for each one. Simply add them as extra actions in your Conversion Flow and every Wix Forms submission goes to all of them at the same time. And when you decide to try out a new ad platform, getting it connected takes a few clicks rather than a whole new project.
6. Gives you a full conversion log and email alerts
Most other ways of tracking ChatGPT Ads conversions (e.g. Google Tag Manager) give you no simple way of knowing whether everything is working.
You can confirm it's all fine on the day you set it up, but if someone later switches your Wix form to redirect to a different page, installs a new app on your site, or changes a setting in ChatGPT Ads Manager, your tracking can easily break without anyone noticing.
Converly removes that uncertainty. You get a complete conversion log that shows every conversion from your Wix forms, the data that was captured, exactly what was sent to ChatGPT Ads, and whether it was successfully delivered or not.
You can also switch on email notifications so you get notified when any conversions fail to send. That way, if something does go wrong, you'll find out about it right away.
2 things you can do when you properly send conversions to ChatGPT Ads from Wix Forms
Once accurate conversion data is flowing from your Wix forms into ChatGPT Ads, you unlock a couple of things that just aren't possible when you're guessing.
1. See which campaigns and ads actually produce leads

Without good conversion tracking, ChatGPT Ads can only show you impressions and clicks, and clicks on their own don't pay the bills.
When reliable conversion data starts coming through, you can see precisely how many leads every campaign and ad is bringing in, what each of those leads is costing you, and where your best opportunities for growth are.
2. Let OpenAI's algorithm find you more of the right people
ChatGPT Ads relies on sophisticated AI to decide who sees your ads and which conversations they show up in.
With conversion tracking set up properly, it gets the information it needs to learn what a great lead looks like for your business, and it will show your ads to more people like them. This means you get more qualified leads at a lower cost per lead.

Wrap Up
If you want ChatGPT Ads to receive a conversion every time someone submits a Wix form on your website, Converly is the easiest (and best) way to make it happen.
Because it sends conversions straight to OpenAI's servers, ad blockers and privacy-focused browsers can't stop them. And because it includes every identifier OpenAI relies on for matching (the click ID, name, email address, etc.), each lead has the strongest possible chance of being linked back to the ad that brought it in.
Best of all, setup only takes a few minutes and there's a 14-day free trial (no credit card required), so start your free trial today!
