Track Calendly bookings as conversions in ChatGPT Ads
Learn how to send server-side conversions to ChatGPT Ads every time someone books a meeting through the Calendly widget on your website. No code required!

Planning to run ChatGPT Ads to get more sales meetings and consultations?
ChatGPT Ads (like nearly every ad platform out there these days) relies on AI to work out which people are most likely to convert and shows your ads to them more frequently.
And because you don't bid on 'keywords' in ChatGPT Ads, this AI is actually even more important. It's what decides whether to show your ads or not in the billions of conversations that are happening in ChatGPT every day.
So how do you make ChatGPT show your ads to the right people in the right conversations? You set up proper conversion tracking. If ChatGPT Ads can accurately see which ad clicks turn into booked meetings, it has the data it needs to learn who your ideal customers are and what conversations lead to conversions, and it can serve your ads more effectively.
So what does proper conversion tracking in ChatGPT Ads look like, and how do you set it up?
In this guide, we'll walk you through the best way to send a conversion to ChatGPT Ads whenever someone books a meeting through Calendly on your website, and we'll show you a few cool things you can do in ChatGPT Ads once it's all set up and working.
What proper conversion tracking looks like in ChatGPT Ads
Getting conversion tracking right in ChatGPT Ads comes down to 2 things. One is delivery (making sure every conversion actually reaches the platform), and the other is data (making sure each conversion includes enough detail for ChatGPT Ads to connect it back to a real person and the ad that brought them to you).
Let's look at each one individually:
Ensuring proper delivery
The simplest option to set up conversion tracking is probably to add the ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel to your site and fire a conversion when someone lands on a booking confirmation page.
The problem is that plenty of those conversions will never reach the ad platform, because ad blockers and the privacy restrictions built into many browsers stop the ChatGPT pixel from loading when the visitor arrives on your site (and if it doesn't load, nothing the visitor does can be tracked).
In fact, research suggests that more than 30% of conversions get blocked from reaching ad platforms this way.
That's why OpenAI recommends sending each conversion through two separate channels. One goes via the visitor's browser to the Measurement Pixel, and the other goes from a server straight to OpenAI using the Conversions API (which is what is known as 'server-side tracking'). The idea is that if the browser version is blocked, the server-side version acts as a safety net, so your bookings should reach ChatGPT Ads one way or another.
Sending the right data
Getting the conversion to ChatGPT Ads is only half the battle. It then has to be matched to a real person and the ad they originally clicked, or it won't be counted at all. A few things make that harder than it sounds:
- Browser Privacy Features: Safari and other privacy-focused browsers only let tracking cookies live in the visitor's browser for a short period (less than 7 days usually). That means someone who clicks your ad on a Wednesday and books a call the following Thursday can't be linked back to their original ad click.
- Switching Devices: It's very normal for someone to click an ad on their phone, then come back a few days later on their laptop to book a meeting. The pixel that loads in the visitor's browser on the laptop has no idea about the click that happened on the phone, so the booking can't be connected back to the ad.
- Switching Browsers: Many people use the ChatGPT app on their phone. When they do, clicking your ad opens your site in a mini browser inside the ChatGPT app, and that mini browser stores its own cookies separately from every other browser on your phone. So if someone clicks your ad inside the ChatGPT app and later returns in Chrome or Safari to book, the conversion can't be matched to the original click.
The fix for all 3 is to send extra information about the lead to ChatGPT Ads with each conversion. That includes the lead's name, email and phone number, plus the Click ID (called the oppref in ChatGPT Ads), their IP address and their user agent. With that data, ChatGPT Ads can tie the booking to a real user and the original ad they clicked, so it actually appears in your reports (if the platform can't make that match, the conversion simply isn't counted).
3 simple steps to send proper, server-side conversions to ChatGPT Ads from Calendly
Now that you know what good ChatGPT Ads conversion tracking looks like (good delivery + data), let's show you the simplest way to set it up:
Step 1: Build your Conversion Flow in Converly
Converly is a conversion tracking tool designed to make it really simple to send conversions from Calendly to ChatGPT Ads.

What you're looking at above is Converly's workflow builder. If you've ever built an automation in Zapier or a workflow in HubSpot, the layout will feel familiar straight away.
Start by choosing your trigger (someone booking a meeting through the Calendly widget on your website), then choose what happens next (a conversion is sent to ChatGPT Ads). Honestly, that's all there is to it. A few clicks and you've got server-side conversion tracking for ChatGPT Ads up and running.
And it's even quicker if you use an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT. Simply install the Converly plugin, ask it to 'Set up ChatGPT Ads conversion tracking for my Calendly bookings', and it can build the flow, install the code and test it for you!
Step 2: Add the Converly code to your website
After you've built and published your Conversion Flow, Converly will give you a little snippet of code to install on your website.

Your Calendly scheduling page is hosted on calendly.com and shows up on your site inside an iFrame (regardless of whether you use the inline embed, the popup widget or a popup text link). So the snippet needs to go on the website where you have embedded the Calendly iFrame, which is usually just the marketing site where people pick a time and book. WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace and most other website builders have a Header or Custom Code setting you can paste it into, but if your site already runs Google Tag Manager, you can add the snippet through that instead.
Step 3: Test it works
Once the code is live, head to your website and book a meeting through your Calendly widget yourself, exactly as a new lead would.
Next, jump back into Converly and click 'Logs' in the main navigation.

Find your test booking in the list and click into it. You'll see all the data Converly captured, plus information on whether the conversion was delivered to ChatGPT Ads successfully or not.

And if you want to dig deeper, you can click through and view the exact payload sent to ChatGPT Ads and the response OpenAI's server sent back.

If the log says your test booking reached ChatGPT Ads successfully, your conversion tracking is ready to go. Most people finish the whole setup in less than 5 minutes.
Why Converly is the best way to send conversions to ChatGPT Ads from Calendly
You've got a few options for getting a conversion into ChatGPT Ads whenever someone books a meeting through Calendly, so why choose Converly? Here's what marketers like about it:
1. Easy to set up
Doing it yourself means writing a whole heap of code to send conversions to OpenAI's Conversions API (and to the browser-pixel as well). This code would have to detect when a meeting has been booked inside the embedded Calendly widget, grab the click ID and browser cookie, pull the invitee's details from the Calendly API, hash them with SHA-256, and send it all over to OpenAI in the format they expect. On top of that, you'd be managing API keys, deduplication and retries on your own.
With Converly, none of that is your problem. Choose a trigger (a Calendly booking), choose an action (a conversion sent to ChatGPT Ads), and Converly takes care of the rest. There's no custom code to write and no API keys to wrangle. It just works.
Plus, if you already use an AI tool like Claude or ChatGPT, you can simply install the Converly plugin, ask it to 'Set up ChatGPT Ads tracking for my Calendly bookings', and let it handle the setup for you!
2. Not affected by ad blockers and privacy restrictions
If you rely on the ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel alone, without also sending conversions server-side through the Conversions API, then a good portion of your conversions will never reach OpenAI. Ad blockers and privacy-focused browsers stop the Measurement Pixel from loading when someone lands on your site, so nothing they go on to do gets tracked.
How much does this matter? A study covering more than 7 million conversions found browser-only tracking missed about 30% of them. That's a lot of lost bookings.
Converly sends every conversion both ways (through the browser to the ChatGPT Measurement Pixel, and server-side to the Conversions API), giving each one the best possible chance of getting through, no matter what ad blocker or privacy settings the visitor uses.
3. Works across devices
Plenty of leads find your site on one device (like their phone while waiting for a coffee) and then come back later on their computer to actually book a meeting in Calendly.
If your tracking depends on something like a thank you page being visited, then there's no way to tie that booking back to the original ad click because the 2 visits happened in different browsers on different devices.
Converly solves this by capturing the click ID (the oppref) and passing it to ChatGPT Ads along with the lead's name, email address and phone number. That gives ChatGPT Ads what it needs to connect the booking back to a real person and the original ad they clicked, even when that click happened on another device weeks before.
4. Sends more data
Because the Calendly widget loads inside an iFrame, the lead's name, email and phone number aren't available in the browser at the time of booking (which means tools like Google Tag Manager can't get them).
Converly solves this problem too. When a visitor lands on your site, it records the ChatGPT click ID (the oppref), the browser cookie set by the ChatGPT Ads pixel, and the visitor's user agent. Then when they book a meeting, Converly pulls their name, email address and phone number from the Calendly API, combines it all together and sends the lot to ChatGPT Ads.
The result is that ChatGPT Ads can match each booking back to the ad click behind it, and your conversion numbers become far more accurate.
5. Supports multiple tools and platforms
Converly integrates with over 100 form builders, scheduling tools, chat widgets and other apps. And it can send conversions to ChatGPT Ads, Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Microsoft Ads, Google Analytics and plenty more.
So if you're running Google Ads or Meta Ads as well as ChatGPT Ads, there's no need to set up tracking separately for each one. Simply add them as extra actions in your Conversion Flow and every Calendly booking will be sent to all of them each time. And if you start advertising on a new ad platform later, hooking it up takes a few clicks.
6. Gives you a full conversion log and email alerts
Most other ways of tracking ChatGPT Ads conversions (Google Tag Manager, for example) give you no way of knowing whether things are working or not.
You might test everything on launch day, but if someone later changes your Calendly event type, swaps the embed, rotates an API key, or tweaks a setting in ChatGPT Ads Manager, your tracking can easily break without you noticing (until you start seeing 0 conversions in Ads Manager).
Converly solves this issue too. You get a full log of every meeting booked through your Calendly widget, what data was captured, what was sent to ChatGPT Ads, and whether it was accepted.
You can also switch on email notifications to get an email for every conversion (including whether it reached ChatGPT Ads or not). That way, if something goes wrong, you'll find out immediately.
2 things you can do when you properly send conversions to ChatGPT Ads from Calendly
Once accurate booking data is flowing from Calendly into ChatGPT Ads, you unlock 2 things that just aren't possible without it.
1. See which campaigns and ads actually produce leads

Without proper conversion tracking, ChatGPT Ads can only report on the number of impressions and clicks, which is nowhere near enough information to understand whether your ads are working or not.
With accurate conversion data coming in, you can see exactly how many meetings each campaign and ad is generating, how much each one is costing you, and where your biggest opportunities for growth are.
2. Let OpenAI's algorithm find you more of the right people
ChatGPT Ads uses AI to choose not only who sees your ad, but also which conversations it shows up in. And every time you send it a conversion, you're telling it which people and which conversations convert into leads for your business.
This means that, over time, it gets better at placing your ads in the right conversations (rather than wasting your budget on conversations that were never going to book a meeting).

Wrap Up
If you want a conversion sent to ChatGPT Ads every time someone books a meeting through the Calendly widget on your website, Converly is the simplest and most reliable way to make it happen.
Because conversions go straight to OpenAI's servers, ad blockers and privacy-focused browsers can't get in the way. And because Converly includes the lead's name, email, phone, click ID and more, every booking has the best possible chance of being matched to a real user and the ad they clicked (so it actually shows up in your reports).
Best of all, setup only takes a few minutes, and there's a 14-day free trial (no credit card required), so get started today!
